Welcome to Business Studies
Aims:
Business Studies provides students with a unique insight into the world of work. Through its study, students discover how businesses operate and learn about their key elements and essential business functions.
The Business Studies Department at Slemish College aims to offer an excellent foundation for those wishing to pursue careers in management, marketing, project management, business accounting, management consultancy, human resources, and business journalism as well as those interested in continuing on to further study.

Courses Offered:
GCSE Business Studies
Our GCSE Business Studies offers a broad overview of business and presents students with a stimulating and imaginative study. Course activities and interactions with local businesses also offer student insights into, and experience in, the decision-making process faced by those in the business world.
The course encourages students to develop a knowledge and understanding of:
- the aims of businesses;
- the different types of businesses that exist;
- how businesses are organised;
- the importance of people to business;
- the main factors that influence product development; and
- the main methods of production; marketing; and finance and accounting.
