Why Study English
English students go on to find careers in teaching, in editing and publishing, in government, law, journalism, library and information management, and many other fields. Past pupils of Slemish College have gone on to study English in many universities choosing many different career paths after studying A Level English. Key Stage 3
English is a compulsory subject at Key Stage 3, in years 8, 9 and 10 the pupils have the opportunity to build their Core Skills within English while studying a variety of topics which include:
- Poetry
- Prose
- Drama
- Non-Fiction and Media
In Key Stage three the pupils have the chance to study authors and playwrights such as: Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare, Roald Dahl, John Boyne, Louis Sachar and George Bernard Shaw.
