History is a study of people in the past. What’s the most interesting thing in the world? Isn’t it people? Well that’s what history is about. If you like people, you should like history! History will help you to make a sense of the present by understanding the past. It will help you to understand why the place where you live looks the way it does. How are you going to change the world if you haven’t looked at how it got in the state it’s in already? How are you going to participate in the system if you don’t know how it works? How will you carry on building up your own set of values without looking at how others have done so in the past? The answers will come through the study of history.

 

History at Slemish is a very popular subject, both at GCSE and A Level.  At Slemish it is taught with enthusiasm and vigour.
