The Media Department at Slemish is a vibrant and exciting place to be with two teachers, Mrs Anderson and Miss Williams. Media is offered as a GCSE and A level option dealing with controversial contemporary issues such as ‘Teenage magazines and Anorexia’ or ‘Urban music and gang-related violence’. The main objectives are to:
- Develop analytical and investigative skill
- Understand how and why media texts are produced
- Approach the media critically and objectively
- Develop creative abilities in a range of productions
The courses are suitable for those who have an interest in any aspect of media and communication and we nurture the creative genius of budding film-makers, marketeers or those who wish to work in the news industry. Former students have pursued University courses in PR, Advertising and Marketing, Film Studies, Journalism and Multi-Media Production.
