Pupils in Years 8-12 follow a broad and balanced Science course in full accordance with the Common Curriculum, which integrates aspects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Studies. Science is approached through as practical a programme as is possible. This takes place in a modern well equipped laboratory setting, where pupils are encouraged to investigate their own ideas, and as such develop experimental and analytical skills.

In addition, pupils are encouraged to think independently about scientific issues, applying their new ideas and skills to the world around them and their immediate environment at home. It is hoped that pupils at Slemish College will find their experience of Science to be stimulating, useful and enjoyable.

At GCSE level all pupils study core science, they then have a choice of studying additional science alternatively students may study science separately. At A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics are offered; assessment is based on modular, practical and synoptic examinations as well as a coursework component.
