Health & Social Care
Aim
Health and Social Care is the study of health and well-being which combines elements of Sociology, Biology, Law and Ethics. It involves investigating a range of individuals who access Health, Social and Early Years Services across Northern Ireland. The prinicples which underpin care work as well as aspects of personal development are also explored. This is all presented to students using a wide range of teaching strategies, aimed at developing knowledge and understanding as well as problem-solving and time management skills.

Courses Offered
CCEA GCSE Health and Social Care
It enables students to develop their understanding around health care services within Northern Ireland, investigating key aspects of care in relation to local people using services. Students also learn about the key stages of development and begin to understand the profound influence relationships and life events can have on an individual’s health.

OCR GCE Health and Social Care
This course is designed to develops knowledge and understanding of issues affecting the health and social sector and should allow students to develop skills to enable them to make an effective conribuition to the care sector.
