Welcome to Modern Foreign Languages.
Learning Languages at Slemish College is fun and exciting! We use a wide range of resources, including games, songs and ICT, to make learning a language enjoyable and interesting. Students have the opportunity to learn both French & Spanish at the College.
Each year we hold our special Slemish Day of Languages when the whole school enjoys quizzes, food tasting sessions, French and Spanish plays, Salsa Dancing and much more!
Teachers and students alike very much look forward to our annual trip to Paris in the summer term. The Eiffel Tower, Disneyland, River Seine cruise, Parc Asterix, Stade de France, Aquaboulevard swimming complex, Tuileries Gardens, Sacré-Coeur and Montmartre are just some of the delights we enjoy as we soak up the Parisian culture!
Aims
- to enhance students’ awareness of French & Spanish culture
- to equip students with the necessary skills to communicate in a French or Spanish speaking country
- to encourage an enthusiasm for language learning through stimulating & relevant lessons
- to demonstrate the importance of language learning in relation to employment opportunities

Students who have chosen to study French or Spanish at Slemish College have followed a variety of career pathways, such as the Travel industry, Business & Commerce & Teaching. Past students have been successful in gaining university courses in Paris as well as within the UK.
